The Providence Performing Arts Center is thrilled to bring you our Reignite Professional Development Series created for educators across the state of Rhode Island.  This virtual professional development series is based in the performing arts and features over 50 videos, ranging from 3 to 30 minutes in length, on Costuming, Theatrical Lighting, Theatrical Sound, Scene Design, Theatre Arts, Movement/Choreography and Music/Vocal Arts. This professional development is FREE to all Rhode Island educators. Educators can earn professional learning units (PLU’s) towards their certification based upon how many units each educator completes. To complete a unit, you will need to watch all videos under a category and then answer all the survey questions for that same category.  If you answer 70% or more of the questions correctly, you will receive continuing education (PLU) credits for that completed unit based upon the duration of time to watch all videos in that specific unit. If you complete all the units you will receive 9 hours and forty-five minutes of PLU’s, as that is the total amount of time it takes to view all the combined unit videos.

This professional development series addresses the need to give educators tools they may need to put on a musical in their schools, as well as use the arts to enhance the work they are already doing in their classrooms and provide additional support to our schools participating in our Disney Musicals in Schools program. This video series was designed to help schools that may be under resourced or on a tight budget, so much of the content addresses how to work, create and find resources for free or low cost.

Our Disney Musicals in Schools programs serves elementary schools and their teachers; therefore, this professional development could be for any grade level teacher, especially the technical videos, but they were initially designed to serve elementary schools trying to start musical theatre programs in under-served/Title-One schools.
