Reignite Professional Development Series

The Providence Performing Arts Center is pleased to offer the Reignite Professional Development Series, created for educators throughout Rhode Island. This free virtual professional development series is rooted in the performing arts and includes more than 50 videos, each ranging from 3 to 30 minutes. Topics include costuming, theatrical lighting, theatrical sound, scene design, theatre arts, movement and choreography, and music and vocal arts. Educators may earn professional learning units (PLUs) toward certification based on the number of units they complete. To complete a unit, educators must watch all videos in a category and answer the corresponding survey questions. Those who answer at least 70% of the questions correctly will receive PLU credits for that unit, based on the total viewing time for its videos. Educators who complete all units will receive 9 hours and 45 minutes of PLUs, reflecting the total time required to view all series videos. This professional development series is designed to give educators practical tools for producing musicals in their schools while also helping them use the arts to enrich the work they are already doing in their classrooms.
