WICKED Returns to PPAC For Three Weeks Only, March 4-22, 2026

Part of the Taco and The White Family Foundation Broadway Series

Providence, RI – The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) is thrillified to welcome WICKED back to the theatre - and to the city of Providence - for a three-week engagement, March 4-22, 2026. WICKED’s return is one of the season’s most exciting theatrical events, making it especially fitting for PPAC to hold their major fundraising event during the engagement. Guests are invited to a magical night out at the Annual Gala Celebration, happening on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 7P.

To purchase Gala tickets, please email Stephanie Santos, Director of Ticketing, at ssantos@ppacri.org. Gala tickets are priced at $400 and are partially tax deductible.

Each Gala ticket includes premium seating to WICKED, complimentary parking and access to an exclusive post show reception at the theatre, featuring culinary creations from local restaurants and catering partners. The Gala is the perfect excuse to wear your most shimmering green eyeshadow, brightest pink lip gloss or most dramatic cape. “Stylish business attire” is recommended, giving guests plenty of room to express their festive creativity.

Proceeds from the Gala support PPAC’s Community Outreach and Engagement programs, which help make the performing arts come alive for Rhode Islanders of all ages. Please visit ppacri.org/outreach for a full overview of these impactful programs.

Alan J. Chille, President and CEO of PPAC, said, “Our Gala Celebration is one of our leading events of the season and we are excited that WICKED is this year’s featured performance. It’s your chance to dress up a little, see a great Broadway show and enjoy delicious food made by some of Rhode Island’s stellar restaurants and catering companies after the show.”

SHOW INFORMATION
The Broadway sensation WICKED looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin, who is smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade,” and by Time Magazine as “a magical Broadway musical with brains, heart, and courage.” NBC Nightly News calls the hit musical “the most successful Broadway show ever.”

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello with musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento. WICKED is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.

The blockbuster film version of WICKED opened on November 22nd, 2024, and has become the highest grossing film based on a Broadway musical in history. The second film WICKED: FOR GOOD opened on November 21st, 2025, and continues to defy gravity at the box office.
