Restoration work being carried out on the Theatre ceiling: 23 karat gold leaf is applied to specific architectural elements. The thin sheets of gold leaf, only a few molecules thick, hang down from the areas to which they have been adhered, waiting for detailed finishing. Notice the scraps of gold leaf shining on the scaffold floor.
