There
isn't a seat in the house that has this view. This perspective
is from the scaffolding that stretched just below the Theatre
ceiling, enabling the artisans of New Millennium to work
comfortably on the ceiling's many architectural surfaces.
What you see overhead is the elaborately detailed rosette
that sits in the center of the ceiling's 'dome'. Intended
as the hanging point for a grand lighted chandelier, the
original 1928 building project ran out of money before it
could be installed. The dome waited 76 years - until September
26, 2004 - for a chandelier to take its intended place in
PPAC's auditorium.
