The Vets is located on the revitalized Avenue of the Arts. With just over 1,900 seats, The Vets is acclaimed for its unique combination of size and intimacy, enjoyed by both audience and performer. On the National Register of Historic Places, The Vets is celebrated for its proscenium stage and exquisite interior.

The Vets is managed by Professional Facilities Management, the company that brings you the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC).

On March 29, the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority (RICCA) announced that Veterans Memorial Auditorium will now be called “The Vets” and a phased series of capital improvements to the historic 1,900 seat theatre will begin this June. David A. Duffy, Chairman of the RICCA, said that The Vets is a “true Rhode Island treasure” and “these renovations will bring the theatre into the 21st Century…and (will) enable management to expand its programming, which will facilitate economic growth.” PFM President J.L. “Lynn” Singleton said that the much needed renovations will help usher in a new era for The Vets, making the venue much more attractive to many more acts. A new logo, created by Malcolm Grear Designs, shown above left, was unveiled as well. Letitia Carter, President of the Veterans Memorial Auditorium Foundation said, “We are very fortunate to have Mr. Grear’s expertise to guide us in the rebirth of ‘The Vets’.” J. Michael Abbott, AIA, Principal, Northeast Collaborative Architects of Newport explained the renovations with the use of drawings and scale models.
