THE PROVIDENCE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER ANNOUNCES SEATS FOR SERVICE MEMBERS PROGRAM

New Program Funds and Provides Preferred Seating for PPAC Broadway, Contemporary, and Family Shows to Rhode Island Service Members and their Families

Providence, RI – J.L. “Lynn” Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center, is pleased to formally announce the Seats for Service Members program, an exciting new initiative to benefit service members and their families. Started as a pilot program in spring 2008 in cooperation with the Rhode Island National Guard, Seats for Service Members funds and provides preferred orchestra seating for PPAC Broadway, Contemporary, and family shows to Rhode Island service members and their families. PPAC’s existing Annual Fund Community Outreach dollars funded the spring 2008 pilot program; to continue this program, PPAC has reached out to the local community to identify potential sponsors and underwriters.

“There are currently more than 5,000 Rhode Island residents who are involved in protecting our country,” said Mr. Singleton. “We hope this program will let them know how much their sacrifices are appreciated; 100% of all sponsorship dollars will be applied to purchase tickets for service members and their families.”

“The Providence Performing Arts Center's Seats for Service Members program is indicative of the unbelievable support our warriors receive from the business community and citizens of this great state,” remarked Major General Robert T. Bray, Adjutant General of Rhode Island and Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard. “PPAC's support of the more than 3,200 soldiers and airmen of the Rhode Island National Guard, most of whom have deployed into harm's way since 9-11, is greatly appreciated by our modern-day Minuteman and we are greatly appreciative of their continued efforts in support of our brave soldiers and airmen.”

Anyone interested in supporting and sponsoring this new program should email Mr. Singleton at lsingleton@ppacri.org or call (401) 421-2997.
